Empires of Twilight: Ayrdonya
Magaith "Maggie" Teagan
Chaotic Neutral Human Rogue, Swashbuckler
Far from the tallest human, neither is she the smallest. Compact would be an apt word. She is limber and athletic, possessing the lean build of a life long runner. Whatever feminine shape she does or does not have is obscured beneath well oiled leather armor.
Her copper hair is woefully short, jagged and shorn at the edges, and her wide mouth is more often smiling than not. The twinkle in her green eyes and the slight upturn of her nose renders her face perpetually impish; an expression reinforced by her boisterous and mischievous laughter.
The slope of her shoulders is relaxed and easy, her stride the slight swagger of brimming confidence. Her boots are scuffed and well used. Archer’s tape decorates the tips of her fingers and a brace supports both wrists.
At any given time she smells of armor oils and wax. She’s probably grinning.

Born the youngest and arguably the most spoiled child of merchant class parents, her tendency toward trouble and misadventure was cultivated at an early age. By the time she was a teenager, a life of minimal responsibility and no consequences had shaped her into an impudent and stubborn young woman.
With nothing to occupy her time, bolstered by the bravado of youth, she quickly fell in with the ‘wrong crowd’. Almost immediately, she discovered a natural talent for less than legal enterprises and pursued that path with impunity. She steals, gambles, fights, and carouses – not because she needs to but because she wants to.
The only thing to keep her interest in any lengthy capacity has been seafaring, and pirating by extension. She has no ship of her own, preferring to crew rather than to captain. Often, she has disguised herself as a man in order to gain entry and safer passage onto the ships she fancies, going by the false name Mat Blackwater.
DM Notes: Born in the city of Last Pointe, Maggie has been to all 7 of the Free Cities of the Dagger Coast, and is well-acquainted with the taverns of the wharf districts. She’s served as a deckhand on numerous merchant vessels (and even a pirate ship or two), usually under the guise of Mat Blackwater. She recently became friends with Korgil and Kiel, who have both taken work as hired muscle on ships, as tavern bouncers, and even sometimes as lowly dockworkers when short-handed on coin. They have developed a good relationship; when one of the three companions manages to find any lucrative work, they share the opportunity with the other two.
Recently, she met a boatswain named Hallard Havardson, from a caravel called the Brazen Beagle. Apparently the ship is under new ownership and much of the crew was released. Looking to hire new deckhands and a few men handy with a sword or axe to guard some “precious cargo”, Hallard was convinced to hire Maggie and her companions. A fair-minded man, he had no problems with a woman on his crew, but warned her that the new commander, a hobgoblin called Vax, may not take kindly to the idea. She agreed to go in the guise of Mat Blackwater, but after several days at sea, she is beginning to become suspicious of the little-seen captain and the nature of the cargo on board…
